The ‘Button Ligation’ method
In this procedure, which has been pioneered and patented by our practice, the problematic vein network is identified, marked and injected with glue, known as sclerosant. A button is used to tie off a sclerosed large vein to prevent recurrence and to avoid the opening up of the vein during the first 2 weeks of healing. The button, which acts as a spacer, ensures that the pressure of the suture is distributed over a wider area.
The benefits of the ‘Button Ligation’ method:
- No cuts are necessary and you can obtain the advantages of a stitch without the scarring
- Very little if any post-op pain or discomfort
- Highly beneficial if you have very sensitive skin and/or have undergone previous surgery.
